Presentation transcript:

Scenario 1 You were caught late one evening vandalising the neighbourhood community garden. You have caused around $500 worth of damages and ruined the crop of vegetables that were planted in the garden.

Scenario 2 During the school day the police caught you smoking marijuana behind a local business. They searched you and your belongings, but found no illegal substances in your possession.

Scenario 3 You have been accused of threatening and assaulting another youth. You swear you are innocent and while you admit to fighting with the youth, you claim that s/he instigated the fight.

Scenario 4 You were arrested during an armed robbery. A hostage was found tied to a chair with evidence of having been physically assaulted. In your bedroom the police found evidence of premeditation.

Scenario 5 You were arrested running away from a home that had been broken into. The police found no stolen goods in your possession. Two laptops belonging to the home that was broken into were found in the bushes that you ran past. You claim that you were not involved what-so-ever, but the police feel that there is enough physical evidence to charge you with break and enter.

Scenario 6 You have been posting rumours about a classmate on Facebook and Twitter. These rumours have spread throughout your school and have led to the classmate not attending school because of how s/he has been being treated by other students. You admit to having started this rumour.

Scenario 7 Your parents have grounded you from driving their car. You are pulled over by the police while driving your parents’ car. The officer tells you that the car has been reported as stolen. You are arrested and charged with “joyriding.” (Ask Mrs. Noble about the difference between “joyriding” and theft of an automobile.).

Scenario 8 After a car accident in which both you and your passenger were seriously injured, you were charged with impaired driving causing bodily harm. You plead guilty.

Scenario 9 A person you know has been hospitalized after a sexual assault. They have accused you and you have been arrested and charged with aggravated sexual assault. You plead not guilty.
