What I Want to BE in 2015

Luke 2:22-24 “When the time came for the purification rites required by the Law of Moses, Joseph and Mary took him (Jesus) to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord (as it is written in the Law of the Lord, “Every firstborn male is to be consecrated to the Lord”), and to offer a sacrifice in keeping with what is said in the Law of the Lord: “a pair of doves or two young pigeons.”

The Jewish law required that as a firstborn male Jesus must be: Consecrated or presented to the Lord Redeemed which means to gain or regain possession of (something) in exchange for payment. This was done through the sacrifice of the two doves or pigeons.

Luke 2:25-28 “At that time there was a man in Jerusalem named Simeon. “He (Simeon) was righteous and devout and was eagerly waiting for the Messiah to come and rescue Israel. The Holy Spirit was upon him and had revealed to him that he would not die until he had seen the Lord’s Messiah. That day the Spirit led him to the Temple. So when Mary and Joseph came to present the baby Jesus to the Lord as the law required, Simeon was there. He took the child in his arms and praised God...”

Luke 12:35-37 instructs us to: “Be dressed for service and keep your lamps burning, as though you were waiting for your master to return from the wedding feast. Then you will be ready to open the door and let him in the moment he arrives and knocks. The servants who are ready and waiting for his return will be rewarded...”

Roman’s 12:1-2: “And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”

Means to Help Us Grow Reading and meditating on the Scriptures Praising and worshipping God Praying Fellowshipping with other believers Reflecting on Scriptures – I use journaling a too to help me reflect

Means to Help Us Grow, cont. Serving Practicing solitude and silence – a retreat is a great way to do this Fasting – food or something of value to you (electronics) Observing the Sabbath

Romans 8:14 says, “For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.”

I John 2:27, “But you (believers, people who have accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord) have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true—it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ.”

Luke 2:28b, “He (Simeon) took the child (Jesus) in his arms and praised God.” Luke 2:38: “She (Anna) came along just as Simeon was talking with Mary and Joseph, and she began praising God. She talked about the child to everyone who had been waiting expectantly for God to rescue Jerusalem.
