Value of each coin in cents Coin Problems Mario had $6.50, consisting of dimes and quarters, in a coin bank. The number of quarters was 10 less than twice the number of dimes. Coin Problems Total value of the coins: 10d + 25q = 650 Relationship between number of each coin: q = 2d – 10 These are your two equations.

Coin Problems Irene has $4.50 in her coin bank in nickels and dimes. The number of dimes is twice the numbers of nickels. How many of each type does Irene have? Rae has $5.70 in quarters and dimes. The number of quarters is 6 more than the number of dimes. How many of each kind does Rae have?

Coin Problems A class contributed $18.50 in quarters and dimes to a welfare fund. In all, there were 80 coins. How many of each kind were there? Ms. Charles cashed a $135 check in her bank. She received $5 bills and $10 bills. The number of $5 bills exceeded twice the number of $10 bills by 3. How many bills of each type did Ms. Charles receive?
