I chose to do my project on the history of some of my coins. My dad travels all over the world and he brings me back all of these interesting coins. These coins represent interesting facts, places, history and things from around the world.

What is in my coin Collection?

The Statue of Liberty used to be a copper color but over time it oxidized into a green color. Did you know that the Statue of Liberty skin is actually as thick as two pennies put together? The height of the statue is 305 ft. Does the Statue of Liberty ever get struck by lightning? What direction does the statue face? The statue’s position makes it a welcoming symbol for arriving ships. What is written on the Statue’s tablet? What does the torch represent? What are the spikes on the crown? It was dedicated to us in 1886 by the French.

This Massachusetts coin dated 1776 is called the Pine Tree Copper because one side shows a pine tree while the other side shows the Goddess of Liberty seated on the globe. Little is known about this coin, but there is only one original coin, but many replicas.
