Regina Álvarez, 2ºE English, EOI Avilés Euro The Euro

Regina Álvarez, 2ºE English, EOI Avilés THE EURO Euro coins have one common side and one national side. They can be used anywhere within the euro area, regardless of the country of issue. So for example a euro coin issued in Spain and featuring a Spanish national side can be used to buy goods in Finland, Italy or Portugal.

Regina Álvarez, 2ºE English, EOI Avilés EURO COINS There are coins in denominations of €2, €1, 50 cent, 20 cent, 10 cent, 5 cent, 2 cent and 1 cent. There are 100 cent to €1.

Regina Álvarez, 2ºE English, EOI Avilés Euro Bank Notes The designs are symbolic for Europe's architectural heritage. They do not represent any existing monuments. Windows and gateways dominate the front side of each banknote as symbols of the spirit of openness and cooperation in the EU. The reverse side of each banknote features a bridge from a particular age, a metaphor for communication among the people of Europe and between Europe and the rest of the world. Final designs were announced in December 1996 at the Dublin, European Council. All notes carry advanced security features.

Regina Álvarez, 2ºE English, EOI Avilés Euro Bank Notes There are 7 euro notes. In different colours and sizes they are denominated in 500, 200, 100, 50, 20, 10 and 5 euros.

Regina Álvarez, 2ºE English, EOI Avilés The Euro in Spain On New Year's Day 2002, Spain, like the other 11 members of the Eurozone, started using Euro notes and Euro coins for cash transactions.

Regina Álvarez, 2ºE English, EOI Avilés Pocket Money Youngsters in Spain usually have a little pocket money every week. We call it “paga”.Youngsters usually spend it at once.
