The Brahideesvarar temple is 1000 years old.

It was built by King Raja Raja Chola.

The structure of Brahadeesvarar temple is majestic.

It is a timeless architectural marvel.

The total area of the temple is 3, 00,000 sq feet and it is surrounded with a fort.

The Gopura of this temple is towered with a Vimanam.

The Vimanam is built up with tones with bonding and notching without use of mortar.

The top most stone of the Vimanam weighs about 80 tons.

The sculptor and the architect came together to create an abode for lord Shiva.

The great Brahideesvarar temple and the art Gallery at Tanjore were the contributions of the Cholas towards art and culture.

Tanjore is the Granary of Tamilnadu.

Tanjore is the home of Carnatic Music, dance and traditional handcrafts.
