Crisis of belief Henry Blackaby – “Experiencing God” James 1:2-4 “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” The ‘DIP’

Chapter One – “Wondering” Habakkuk 1:5 “Look at the nations and watch – and be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told.” Hebrew - [tâmahh] תּמהּ ‘a sudden or alarming amazement’ ‘to be astonished or to marvel’

Chapter One – “Wondering” Habakkuk 1:6-8 “I am raising up the Babylonians [Chaldeans], that ruthless and impetuous people, who sweep across the whole earth to seize dwellings not their own. They are a feared and dreaded people; they are a law to themselves and promote their own honour. Their horses are swifter than leopards, fiercer than wolves at dusk. Their cavalry gallops headlong; their horsemen come from afar. They fly like an eagle swooping to devour” What do you do when you’re in the middle of ‘Chapter 1’ and you’re not sure what you believe? A deeply committed believer can express simultaneous questions and faith

So He asked his father, “How long has this been happening to him?” And he said, “From childhood. And often he has thrown him both into the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.” Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!”
