Why sustainability as a business model? Upscale Ecotourism pioneer since 1992 “Rainforest wilderness adventure in a class by itself”. Motivated by Costa Rica CST program to achieve 5 leaves. Observation of the positive impact on the environment and the local community (e.g. Stanford study).

Impact on the Environment 1987= 58.9% 2000= 71.1% + 5KM Forest Cover Field changes from pasture and agriculture to secondary forest

Impact on the Local Community Education of a local staff through on the job training and scholarships. Year-round employment. Building and support of local school and other surrounding rural schools. No negative impacts such as drug addiction, alcoholism and prostitution.

Economic Sustainability Annual Occupancy: 80+% (100% from Nov. to April) Average Daily Rate: $350 Annual Sales: 2.2 Mio US$ The more we focus on sustainability, the more profitable we become.
