What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why? Who would I pick? Click an image to find out more information Click here

What it is? It is a large international publisher that is based in Hamburg and also stationed in 15 other countries worldwide. They published over 300 different magazines worldwide along with online T.V and radio. History The first magazine that this institution published was the angling times and motor cycle news in The first thing the Bauer media published in the UK was Bella magazine in Over the years Bauer media has brought other media intuitions to become the largest publisher in the UK. Why would they distribute it? Bauer media has a large media listings of published magazines and some of these include music magazines. Bauer media includes some of the best selling music magazines like Q and Kerrang, they could possibly want to distribute my music magazine as even though they already own two of the best selling rock magazines I think they could expand the amount of rock music magazines that they could distribute to the public. Also they are limited on this genre of music magazine only having two types of this genre. I think that they would also distribute it because it will expand their overall portfolio of magazines and would also give them an opportunity to make more money. Reasons they would not distribute my magazine There are many reasons why this company may not want to distribute my magazine. These are down to the style of my magazine, as the way my magazine is styled has many forms and conventions of the magazine Kerrang which covers very similar topics and is styled in the same way. < ---- Return to first slide

What it is? Future publishing is an international media group which was founded in 1985 and have produced over 150 different publications. They also produce publications about film, games and other technologies and crafts. History Over the past 26 years that future publishing has been around they have sold 3.2 million magazines each month and future publishing only began with one type of magazine in Why would they distribute it? After some research on some of the different magazines that future publishing publish I think that the style of my magazine is unique and different compared to music magazines that they publish like guitar world and classic rock. As well I think that the content of my magazine would appeal to a wider audience then some of the magazines that the institution publishes. Also my magazine will include different features and give a ways to keep the target audience wanting to buy more copies of the magazine. Reasons why they would not distribute it? I would say one of the main reasons that future publishing would not distribute my magazine would be that they have a wide variety of different music magazines for my particular genre of magazine and music in general. < ---- Return to first slide

What is it? IPC but originally know as the international publishing corporation is a digital publisher that is stationed in the united kingdom and sells over 350 million copies of different magazines each year, History Since IPC media has begun they own over 60 media brands that focus the majorly on the women market, but do address 42% of the adult men's market also. As well as that since the running of IPC media’s website they have a collective of 20 million users of month. Why would they distribute my product? I think that IPC would distribute my magazine as with only one rock genre music magazine on their portfolio I think that they could increase their portfolio to include another rock genre based magazine. As looking into NME it does have similarities to my magazine in conventions and form but I think the way that I have styled my magazine to appeal to my specific target audience that will also or may attract a larger audience to IPC media in general. The reason being that many of the magazines published by IPC media are more focused at women where my magazine may attract more younger readers of magazines increasing their own target audience. Reasons why they would not distribute my product? Well because IPC media is heavily focussed on appealing to the women audience even though i tried to make my magazine appeal to both genders I think that my magazine would appeal more to the male audience. Another argument could be that they already own a very successful rock genre music magazine and could decide that would be enough to please the male target audience. < ---- Return to first slide

This is the media institution that I would choose to publish and distribute my magazine. As they already have experience with some of the best selling music magazines along with 300 other magazines. They are also stationed worldwide I would also say that out of the other two institutions this would be the best and more experienced out of the three. IPC would not be beneficial to me as they are more focused on the women market and seem to have less experience in music magazines than the other institutions. Future publishing have a lot experience in music magazines but personally I have not even heard some of the music magazines that they have published and ahs the least amount of publications than the other two institutions. < ---- Return to first slide Press ESC to exit the presentation
