AA gerund can be used as the subject of a sentence.

Exercise Make sentences using gerund as the subject of a sentence. Use these verbs:  Smoke  Behave  Study  Play  Read Example: Sculpt Sculpting in Africa has been dated to ancient times.

A A gerund can be the object of a verb.  After some verbs only a gerund form can be used.

EXERCISE Complete the following sentences with gerund or gerund phrases formed from the cues in parentheses. We all enjoyed (go to the concert). We all enjoyed going to the concert 1It certainly was worth (see). 2I would not mind (pay for a ticket to watch it again). 3I admit (not like all the music). 4We are considering ( buy tickets for the next concert). 5I suggest(call the box office today).

 After any preposition you have to use a gerund form except with the preposition “to”.

EXERCISE  Using your own ideas complete the following sentences with appropriate prepositions and gerunds.  Ex: I am good at playing the flute.  I´m planning_______ _______ some new records this week.  I get tired_______ ________ the same kinds of music.  Instead______ _______ to a ball game, I´d much rather go to a concert:  I´m looking forward to______ ______ to a concert soon.
