Cost: Rs. 20 Lakh ;Expenditure : Rs Lakh Brief outline of the Project CODE – /WH-PERCOLATION/92573 It is envisaged to construct a 5.0 acres balancing reservoir to provide life saving irrigation to approx. 500 acres of land. As per Master Plan water from an adjacent WHS constructed out of BRGF will be fed to the Reservoir which will subsequently be diverted for Irrigating the farm land. In addition to providing irrigation, the project will meet Domestic needs of the tribal village, Phuljhar and recharge the rapidly depleting ground water table. Above all the project will provide job to the job seekers of Phuljhar village for two consecutive years who otherwise are tempted to migrate in search of work to neighboring states.

A huge earth embankment was completed without providing surplus. Left canal constructed to conduit water to the command area got silted up due to lack of maintenance and led to washing away of embankment. It was essential to restore the project to provide life saving Kharif irrigation to the chronically draught affected aya-cut. The work involves restoration of earth embankment, const. of chute spillway and one no outlet with desilting of canals.

Out of BRGF & BKBK funds a culvert with 3 vents of 4m x 3 m size has been constructed. As the valley is relatively flat mat foundation was adopted instead of costly isolated footings. The project has successfully carried the flood last year. Construction of the culvert has significantly reduced the travelling distance.

The BRGF : 2.50 Lakh, BIJU-KBK :2.50 Lakh The Primary School of the village Chormunda is on the other side of the stream. During rainy season the children were compelled to cross the ravine with the help of a dangerous wooden bridge. Out of BRGF & BKBK funds a culvert with 2 vents of 4m x 3.5 m size has been constructed. Construction of the culvert has not only provided safe passage for the students but also reduced length of travel to nearest district Lakhna by nearly 5.0 Km.
