City Council Offices

Mayor A mayor is an elected person who serves as the head of a city’s government. He or she has many responsibilities and follows a goal of making that city a great place for its residents to live. Mayors decide how to spend money on local programs, construction projects, parks, city streets, and other things. At city council meetings, where local officers discuss current and upcoming plans for their areas, the mayor listens to everything and has the power to vote on which plans should be put into practice. Who is the mayor of Pelham?

There are five city council members The City Council and the mayor work as a team with city employees to provide the public with: a safe community to live and work in, services delivered professionally, fiscal (government finances) responsibilities, and convenient opportunities for recreation. The Pelham City Council members are: 1 st Place- Teresa Nichols 2 nd Place- Mike Dickens, Council President 3 rd Place- Bill Meadows 4 th Place- Steve Powell 5 th Place- Karyl Rice

The finance director and city clerk is responsible for all financial services required by city government. City Clerk responsibilities include processing bids, city elections, record keeping functions related to city council meetings and maintenance of municipal resolutions and ordinances passed by the city council. The Finance Director/City Clerk of Pelham is Tom Seale.

Marketing Director The Marketing Director promotes Pelham in order to draw potential residents and businesses to the city.

The Human Resources Department is responsible for developing and administering the personnel program and policies that govern all city employees. The Director of Human Resources for Pelham is Jerry Nolen.

A Revenue Director oversees a staff of employees who collect all taxes, business licenses and permit fees due the city. The Revenue Director of Pelham is Mike Morgan.

The city engineer typically works with city government and administration to effectively plan and manage future and current projects within a city. The City Engineer of Pelham is Jesse Jowers.

The Building Official is responsible for the Building Division in a community and is the designated authority charged with the enforcement and regulations for all buildings and structures.

Director of Public Works The Director of Public Works plans, organizes, directs and integrates the City’s public works and utilities activities and functions. Pelham’s Director of Public Works is Eddy Jowers.

Chief of Police The chief of police is the top official in the chain of command of a police department. The Chief of Police for Pelham is EA “Tommy” Thomas.

Fire Chief The fire chief is the top rank executive or commanding officer in a fire department. The chief is responsible for carrying out the day-to-day tasks of running a firefighting organization, including supervising other officers at an emergency scene, training and equipping them for their respective duties. The fire chief of Pelham is Danny Ray

A library director organizes, directs, controls and promotes the activities of the City's Library system. The library director of Pelham is Barbara Roberts.

Director of Parks and Recreation The Parks and Recreation Director is responsible to plan, direct and manage the activities and operation of the Parks Department including parks, waterpark, recreation programs, special use facilities. The Director of Parks and Recreation of Pelham is Billy Crandall
