Arrival & Drop-Off Parking at the Northfield Community School is very limited. Limited “On-Site” Parking – Cedarbridge Road Side – New Road Side Limited “On-Street” Parking – Cedarbridge Road (2 Hour Max. in front of NCS) – Juniper Drive (2 Hour Max.) Arrival / Drop-Off Times for the Elementary School are between 8:10 AM to 8:30 AM – Start Time: Grades 3-4 8:20 AM (Drop-Off 8:10) – Start Time: Grades K-2 8:30 AM (Drop-Off 8:20) ALTERNATE MILL ROAD PARKING LOT 2

“OPTIONAL” Drop-Off Lane In an attempt to make for a more efficient drop-off for school students – A DROP-OFF LANE has been established ( September 8, 2009 ) Drivers using this optional drop-off lane MUST – PREPARE FOR DROP-OFF PRIOR TO ENTERING THE SCHOOL COMPLEX » Students MUST BE READY to SAFELY EXIT the vehicle » Drivers cannot assist STUDENTS outside the vehicle Drivers cannot get out of the car and help students Drivers cannot get out of the car to retrieve items from the vehicle’s trunk or other areas of the vehicle If you can’t follow the aforementioned process… THIS MAY NOT BE AN OPTION FOR YOU! “Love them and leave them” 3

“OPTIONAL” Drop-Off Lane In an attempt to make for a more efficient drop- off for school students – A DROP-OFF LANE has been established ( September 8, 2009 ) Drivers using this optional drop-off lane MUST – Enter the drop-off Lane and pull as far up as possible (SAFELY) » Pull up to the STOP Sign or as close as possible with other traffic – MUST remain in the driver’s seat (DO NOT EXIT VEHICLE) – Vehicle in PARK with Engine RUNNING – Student(s) MUST exit vehicle on their own via the PASSENGER SIDE – Continue in the drop-off Lane to the lane’s exit (STOP Sign) – SAFELY merge with traffic to exit complex “Love them and leave them” 4

“OPTIONAL” Drop-Off Lane You will pull into the Elementary School entrance from Cedarbridge Road, the East entrance closest to Juniper Drive. This is no different from what most of you have been doing. 6

“OPTIONAL” Drop-Off Lane DROP-OFF LANE THRU TRAFFIC LANE The DROP-OFF LANE is a FIRE ZONE. NO PARKING will be permitted! In the event of an EMERGENCY – vehicles in the DROP-OFF LANE will have to SAFELY exit the lane promptly (whether or not their students were dropped off). At which point, the DRIVER will have to make other arrangements to drop-off their student for school. EMERGENCIES TAKE PRIORITY 8

There is a yellow chain that is attached to each lane delineator (Orange Cone/Post). This is to help prevent students from walking/running through traffic. 12

“OPTIONAL” Drop-Off Lane THRU TRAFFIC LANE DROP-OFF LANE NO STOPPING / NO PARKING HERE SCHOOL BUS DROP-OFF AREA The continuation of PARKING will be allowed on the curb line (inside the fence – Cedarbridge Road side). However, students MUST use the SCHOOL CROSSING GUARD located at the Western Cedarbridge Road entrance. There will be NO CROSSING between vehicles SCHOOL CROSSING GUARD Students MUST exit vehicles via PASSENGER SIDE 13

“OPTIONAL” Drop-Off Lane All students MUST exit vehicles via the PASSENGER SIDE Vehicles in the DROP-OFF LANE must pull up to the “STOP” sign located to the RIGHT inside the lane or as far forward as possible with other traffic (SAFELY) 15

“OPTIONAL” Drop-Off Lane Vehicles in the DROP-OFF LANE must pull up to the “STOP” sign located to the RIGHT inside the lane or as far forward as possible with other traffic (SAFELY) All students MUST exit vehicles via the PASSENGER SIDE 16

“OPTIONAL” Drop-Off Lane NCS will attempt to have their “SAFETY PATROL” (Middle School Students) in the area of the ELEMENTARY SCHOOL drop-off to assist students once they are on the sidewalk. 17

“OPTIONAL” Drop-Off Lane Vehicles in the DROP-OFF LANE must pull up to the “STOP” Sign located to the RIGHT inside the lane or as far forward as possible with other traffic (SAFELY) STOP! Put VEHICLE in PARK! STUDENTS EXIT RIGHT via PASSENGER side of vehicle. After student has SAFELY exited and shut the car door, safely continue out of the lane. “Love them and leave them” 18

“OPTIONAL” Drop-Off Lane After your student(s) have SAFELY exited your vehicle and shut your car door; SAFELY travel forward in the DROP-OFF LANE (with traffic) to the exit of the lane (STOP sign); After STOPPING - SAFELY merge out of the lane into the THRU TRAFFIC lane and continue on your way. WATCH FOR ONCOMING TRAFFIC in the “THRU TRAFFIC LANE” STOP SIGN 19

“OPTIONAL” Drop-Off Lane Regarding DISMISSAL / PICK-UP – As you know PARKING in the FIRE ZONE is not permitted – If your students(s) are ready for pick-up at the drop-off location you may use the drop-off lane as a pick-up lane ( i.e.: Returning to pick up a parent dropped off previously to wait for their student[s], or a student standing by waiting for a ride at the drop-off lane. ) Dismissal Times – Grades 3 – 4: 3:00 PM – Grades K – 2: 3:10 PM K-2 Students get dismissed to the parent and/or guardian, which will make it difficult to use the drop-off lane as a pick-up lane 34
