Using all the information, write one sentence that tells the main idea of the story. Trisha overcame her fear of thunder at her grandmother’s farm by getting ingredients for thunder cake during the storm. Thunder Cake

How do we support the main idea? Look for details that tell you more about how the main character solves the problem or meets the challenge.

How did Trisha overcome her fear of thunder? Trisha walked through Tangleweed Woods to the dry shed with her grandmother while the lightning slit the sky to get ingredients for thunder cake. Trisha climbed high on the trellis in the backyard to get tomatoes while lightning came again and thunder growled.

How did Trisha overcome her fear of thunder? While lightning and thunder continued, she got milk from old kick cow even though she was scared. Trisha walked to the barn with her grandmother while thunder roared so that she could get eggs from mean old Nellie Peck Hen. Even though, she was scared and knew Nellie would try to peck her. Trisha mixed the ingredients of thunder cake with her grandmother through the thunder and lightning.
