If the bakery wants to sell 20 boxes on Saturday, how many cookies will they have to bake? Understand Read the problem. Write what you know. There are 2 boxes with 12 cookies. You need to find out how many cookies need to be baked to fill 20 boxes.

Lesson 3-3 Example Plan Pick a strategy. One strategy is to write an equation. Let x represent the number of cookies that need to be baked to fill 20 boxes. Set up the proportion.
