Poplar Street Conversion Project Purpose Make Uptown easier to navigate in this area. One-way street systems can be: – Confusing – Can lead to unnecessarily longer driving in the search of parking or destinations. Converting some of Uptown’s one-way streets to two-way will: –Improve the street network –Reduce congestion and air pollution –Reduce pedestrian conflicts and motorist confusion

Poplar Street Conversion General Information City project will convert Poplar Street from 3rd St. to 6th St. from one-way to two-way. County project has already converted Mint Street from MLK Jr Blvd to Trade St from one-way to two-way. Mint Street is projected to carry the majority of the traffic (2,500 vpd up to 5,500 vpd). Poplar Street is projected to have a decrease in traffic (5,000 vpd down to 2,000 vpd).
