HEADED TO OTC? SENIOR INFORMATIVE MEETING AmberManning HS Senior Class Counselor

Applying for OTC…..ONLINE!

After Clicking Getting Started….

Completing the Application…

What the Application Looks Like…

Tips and Helpful Hinters… If you plan to attend a 4 year university in the future, you will choose the ASSOCIATE OF ARTS transfer degree option.** PLEASE NOTE: Both Missouri State and Drury have on-campus representatives housed at the OTC Springfield campus. If you plan to transfer, you will need to meet and check with them REGULARLY in order to ensure the classes you are taking WILL apply to your chosen degree program. You will have access to many different CAREER programs as well….. Still searching? OTC can help you find your pathway...

Application is DONE…Now What?  Students must complete orientation……  Orientation can be VIEWED online….

After the Orientation Videos…  You have to enter your name and social security number to ENSURE to OTC that you viewed the Orientation video….  You will have to let it process overnight so that OTC gets the information that you have completed the Orientation video  You will need to visit the COUNSELING OFFICE to have your HS TRANSCRIPT sent over to OTC!

Have You Tested?  Do you have an ACT score? If so, GREAT! English Placement Based on ACT English subscore  18 or higher; ENG 101 Composition I Math Placement Based on ACT Math subscore---19 or less  MTH 050, Basic Algebra I Math subscore—20-22  MTH 110, Intermediate Algebra Math subscore  MTH 130, College Algebra

I Have Not Yet Tested….

Testing Information…..  If your ACT scores were low and you believe you could do better, take the COMPASS. It may save you time/money by not having to take the remediated class.  If you are a student who has not taken the ACT and NEEDS the COMPASS test, Ozark HS would like a copy of your COMPASS testing results after you complete. Please bring your results by the office, and we will make a copy.  REMINDER: You will have to take ONE College/Career Ready exam before leaving HS ACT/SAT, Compass, Work Keys (April 10 th ), ASVAB (April 14 th )

Getting Your STAR Appointment  First off, what is STAR?  STAR stands for Student Advising and Registration.  The earlier you can get your STAR appointment, the BETTER chance you will have for getting the classes you want at the TIMES that you want.  OTC needs to have your application on file, proof of orientation, and your transcript WITH ACT or COMPASS scores before you can get your STAR appointment  CALL TO SCHEDULE:  Can use a COLLEGE VISIT DAY for your STAR appt!

At Your STAR Appointment…  You are provided some very PERTINENT information such as: Your OTC identification number Your OTC username/password for your “MyOTC” account How to register for your classes---this is completed online!

Tuition Arrangements…  ALL students (even A+ recipients) must make and complete TUITION ARRANGEMENTS.  Sign up for e-Cashier program—This defers and provides the state some time to PAY your tuition after it is confirmed you are an A+ student  $35 fee to sign up for e-Cashier (not A+ covered)  If you don’t, your classes could be cancelled if you miss the deadline.

Other Quick Reminders…  FAFSA Completion is IMPORTANT for ALL!  FAFSA-Free Application for Federal Student Aid  Lets you know if you are eligible for grants, student loans, and work study programs  State of Missouri Grant Deadline: April 1 st, 2015  PIN number—how you and your parents sign, apply first before completing the FAFSA  A+ Students—This completes the PROCESS for you!  Make sure you list OTC on your FAFSA application  OTC’s School Code for your FAFSA:

Other Quick Reminders…  If you plan to attend OTC beginning the summer 2015, you will have to complete 2 FAFSAs….  Let Counseling/A+ Office know IN ADVANCE if you plan to begin college at OTC Summer 2015!  for the Summer semesters Need 2013 student/parent tax information  for the Fall/Spring/Summer semesters Need 2014 student/parent tax information

After Graduation…  Counseling Office will NEED TO BE NOTIFIED to send your completed and updated HS transcript to the Student Services office.  For those of you who are A+ recipients, the A+ Office in coordination with the Counseling Office will ALSO send your transcript to the A+ Office at OTC stamped letting them know you are an A+ Completer.

Conclusion  Apply now!!!!!  Early birds get the class schedules they like (or can live with) and it reduces your stress load…  You can leave HS knowing you have a PLAN, and you still have some ready assistance if you hit a snag!  Here’s to a seamless and wonderful transition!
