AdjectivesAdjectives And word order

Starter What is a “noun”? What is an “adjective”?

Noun or adjective? big cat blue sad book pencil

What exactly does this sentence mean when translated? J’ai un stylo bleu. Answer: I have a pen blue! French people usually put the adjective (describing word) AFTER the noun (thing).

Put these sentences in the correct order. 1.une rouge trousse j’ai 2.j’ai stylos des noirs 3.un j’ai portable blanc 4.une calculatrice j’ai jaune 5.trois crayons j’ai verts

The adjectives “big” and “small” The vast majority of adjectives go AFTER the noun. There are just a small number that go before the noun (as in English). The most common examples are “big” (grand) and “small” (petit). J’ai un grand livre – I have a big book J’ai un petit crayon – I have a small pencil
