AGIA MARINA DONKEY RESCUE, the Greek Donkey is one of the most misunderstood, mistreated animals in todays society. Agia Marina Donkey Rescue founded in 2006 is a non profit making, charitable organisation. We receive no Govt. Funding and are totally reliant on public donations, donkey sponsoring and fundraising, no needy, unwanted or sick donkey will be turned away but will be warmly welcomed to our rescue centre and given all the care and love they need for the remainder of their lives. Also abandoned or unwanted dogs will never be turned down at Agia Marina Donkey Rescue. Each of them has its story...abandoned, left in a trashbin, hanged, poisoned, unwanted, unloved,... Please help us save and care for these unfortunate dogs by donating for food, vaccines, passport, chipping... every bit counts. We are always looking for flightescorts to Belgium, Holland, Germany & UK too. Please contact us for more information Greek Law 2017 (1992): "No one should pointlessly make an animal suffer or cause it distress. No one should abandon a domestic animal.".. All over Crete there are hundreds of dogs chained for a lifetime to barrels and inadequate shelters, without water, shade, enough food or company of other dogs or people. Please help by supporting the people who rescue these dogs from a lifetime of misery by donating to help rescue them or offering to become a flight escort to take them to their new homes.... We are very fortunate to be visited twice yearly by Equine dentists and farriers from GAWF (Greek Animal Welfare Fund) and the CAWG (Cretan Animal Welfare Group) They all do a fantastic job with the donkeys and we always look forward to seeing them... Most of our rescue donkeys have never seen a vet, had there teeth checked or hooves properly trimmed. This can make such an enormous difference to the quality of a donkeys life… Barrel dogs / stray dogs Outreach /help Please come and visit our donkeys at the Agia Marina Donkey Rescue.... We are situated 5kms from the main Messara town of Mires, go South/West towards Faistos and on the road to Matala you wil find us in the Agia Marina area near Sivas Village...1 km from Petrokefali.
