Navajo is an unwritten language extremely Complex Without extensive Training tough to learn
No alphabet No symbols Is spoken only on Navajo lands in the Southwest
Marines recruited 200 Navajos to help with their mission First 29 recruited developed a dictionary and code words After training were sent to the Pacific
Japanese Baffled by the code Never cracked one used by the Marines
Navajo Code Talkers were long unrecognized Honored years later in Washington D.C. (2001)
