 PROSKUNEO – A compound word. PROS = toward + KUNEO = To kiss. To do homage.  LATREUO = to render religious service to another.

 Matthew 2:2 – “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him.”

 “You also took along the tabernacle of Moloch and the star of the god Rompha, the images which you made to worship. I also will remove you beyond Babylon.”

 John 4:19-24  Worship not a matter of choice  True worshipers worship in spirit and truth  Spirit defines the character of worship  Truth defines the content

 Not according to our whims or fancies  2 John 1:9 – “Anyone who goes too far and does not abide in the teaching of Christ does not have God; the one who abides in the teaching, he has both the Father and the Son.”

 Revelation 19:10 – “Then I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, ‘Do not do that; I am a fellow servant of yours and your brethren…worship God.”

 Isaiah 29:13 – Then the Lord said, “Because this people draw near with their words and honor Me with their lip service, but the remove their hearts far from Me, and their reverence for Me consists of tradition learned by rote….”

 Acts 17:23 – “…I found an altar with this inscription, ‘To an unknown God.’ Therefore what you worship in ignorance, this I proclaim to you.”
