+ Anxiety Is a condition of hyper arousal of the central nervous system in response to fear or stress Anxiety symptoms in children/teens can range from typical, developmental appropriate systems of worry or fearfulness to the severe systems of anxiety disorders Behaviors that children my exhibit- agitation, combative behavior, rapid breathing, hyper vigilance, trembling, pale, clammy skin, shut down, avoidance Fight or flight, freeze and withdraw
+ Depression Depression is an illness of the central nervous system that often leads to mood changes, sleep and energy changes and changes in thinking Depression often impacts relationships, academic/work performance, self concept and view of the world Three mood changes associated with depression include sadness, irritability and lack of joy
