“The Utterly Perfect Murder” by Ray Bradbury

August 22, 1920 – June 5, 2012 Esther Bradbury-Mother *Leonard Spaulding-Father *He was given the middle name "Douglas," after the actor Douglas Fairbanks. *In his stories, Green Town is a symbol of safety and home, which often contrasts with his stories of mystery & danger.

Point Of View-1st person Point of View: perspective from which the story is told (narrator) 1St person: the story is told from a character in the story (I, Me, My) + you can see inside this character’s head (see their thoughts and feelings) - limited to one character’s thoughts and feelings (bias)/that character can be flawed

Point Of View-3rd person (do not write this down) 3rd person point of view-the story is told from an outside narrator Limited: the outside narrator can see inside only 1 character’s head Omniscient: the outside narrator can see inside all of the characters’ head (omni=all knowing)

Conflict Conflict: problem or struggle in a story Internal Conflict: Character vs. Self (inside a character’s head or a decision that character is struggling with)

Flashback a part of a story or movie that describes or shows something that happened in the past How does it help? Gives the reader extra information to help their understanding of the story or the character

Theme People should not let their past control their future. A way a person treats someone can have a lasting impact.
