What happens when rules are broken? Your behavior is your choice. You are responsible for your own behavior in this classroom. Each time you break a rule, you have chosen a consequence.

What happens when rules are broken? When rules are broken, you will receive a consequence. I will carry a clip board with your name on it. Each time you break a rule, I will mark your name. Each mark indicates a new consequence.

What are my penalties? No Marks – Indicates that you have broken no rules and that you are having a great day! Warning - Indicates that you have broken a rule, but you have another chance make better choices. 5 Minutes – You must walk five minutes during recess. 10 Minutes – You must walk ten minutes during recess. You will also be sent to the time out chair. 15 Minutes – You must walk for fifteen minutes and you will spend time in the time out chair. You must also fill out a time out sheet, which will be sent home and must be signed and returned the next day. 20 Minutes – You must walk for your entire recess and you will fill out another time out sheet, which must be signed and returned the next day. Your parent(s) will be called. If you are on twenty minutes for three days, a parent teacher conference will be scheduled and a behavior modification plan will be developed.

Time Out If you have a ten minute mark beside your name, you will have to go to time out and complete a time out form. A copy of the form will be sent home to your parent. Continuous problems will be dealt with severely! I do not tolerate loss of instructional time due to behavior problems.

Discipline Referral Form Each teacher has a discipline referral form. When a rule is broken, a discipline referral form will be filled out. One copy will be sent to the office, one will go home to be signed and returned, and one will be kept on file in your folder. There are three levels of behaviors: Minor, moderate, and major.

Minor/Moderate Level 1 & 2 Inappropriate language gestures Inappropriate physical contact/not keeping hands, feet, objects to self Defiance: failure to follow reasonable requests w/eventual compliance Disruption (talking, refusal to remain in seat, rude noises) Property misuse (school, staff, peer) Technology misuse (accessing inappropriate website, destruction of equipment)

Minor/Moderate Level 1 & 2 Dishonesty/Cheating Disrespect: responding in an inappropriate manner Off task: failure to complete task/assignment Horseplay (unsafe play/contact) Inappropriate clothing Mild threat/intimidation

Major/Level 3 Overt defiance/non-compliance Major disruption Fighting/physical aggression Abusive/inappropriate language/gestures Dishonesty/Cheating Disrespect (continued inappropriate responses) Forgery/theft Indecent exposure Property damage/Vandalism Bomb threat Threat (staff or student) Weapons/dangerous instrument Harassment/bullying Unacceptable items

Student Discipline Referral Cont’d Students who are written up with for a level 3 offense go to the office immediately. Students receiving level 1 or 2 offences will be dealt with in the classroom. Three or more level 1 or 2 offences constitute a level 3
