How do you define co-teaching?

State Definition Co-Teaching is a collaborative partnership between a generalist and a specialist who have shared accountability and ownership for planning and delivering instruction and assessment to all students within a classroom environment.

Co-Teaching Framework Purposes: Enhance instruction and access for students with disabilities Guidance and consistency for quality implementation Support strategic planning at the district and school levels for all learners

Framework Contents Purpose Vision Statement Mission Statement Co-Teaching Implementation Roles for: Central Office Administration School-Base Administration General and Special Educators

Consider and Discuss Read the vision and mission statements. Highlight the statements that align with the core beliefs embedded in your school (system) improvement plans? Discuss with your neighbor.

Reflection Based upon your role, read through the considerations presented in the Framework. As you read each consideration, think about your school or system’s current reality.
