2 Defining Detailed documents designed to persuade your reader to accept an idea, recommendation, or solution to a problem, adopt a plan, buy a product, use your services, or give you money for research.

3 The Purposes Suggest an idea to your employer. Recommend an idea/project to a committee or board. Apply for a grant to fund a project. Solicit financial backing from investors for a new business or projects Solicit a contract from a potential customer or clients.
