Hello I am an 11 year old Inca Boy. Here is what happened to me when I was held prisoner by the Spanish.

Something crazy is going on. I am awake but I can see and when I talk it doesn't sound right at all. I think I am being held prisoner by the Spanish. 24 Hours Later Yep I’m right. The Spanish have held me prisoner, they are now interrogating me. Here is what I told them.

We are craftsmen so we live in the city. We are lucky to have a 3 story house because not many other craftsmen have them. Our family makes jewels. Craftsman make their products for nobility. Houses are made of stone.

Most people in my tribe wear a gown that covers most of their body but has no sleeves. These are made out of llama or alpaca wool. This might seem weird but they are comfortable.

We are mostly vegetarians. We mostly eat potatoes but we also eat beans, squash, sweet potatoes, avocadoes, and tomatoes. Even though this might sound weird to you it is very tasty.

 Some things my tribe did:  We built Machu Picchu. It’s a world famous historical site.  We build roads  We build stone fortresses  We make irrigation systems

Our tribe is very warlike. We have conquered many tribes and places. Our army is made up of over 200,000 people. It is made up of people from tribes we have conquered also. We use slingshots, spears, bow and arrow, and axes.

We live in areas of these present day countries: Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Argentina, and Bolivia. Our land has many natural features like mountains, rivers, and lakes. Mountains are either the home of a god or a god itself. Our language is Quechua.

We have 30,000-35,000 species of plants. About 50% of these plants are found nowhere else in the world!!! We have more than 1,700 species of birds. We are home to one of the biggest birds on earth (the Andean condor). We have more than 570 mammals. We have more than 600 species of reptiles and around 980 species of amphibians. That is like 3,850 species. WOW. This is the Puya Raimondii. It takes a century to reach maturity. Andean condor

My family lives in Cusco, the capital of the Inca empire. It is in present day Peru. It rains a lot in every season except summer. The warm season is very short here. We don’t get snow but we are in the mountains.

When the weather makes it unable for farmers to work effectively they stay inside. This affects us by making us stay inside. Rain makes farmers unable to work. It doesn't rain that much here.

We have had a flood about a year earlier. It was sort of bad but not too damaging because we have stone buildings. It did hurt crops in some farms near here. I hated when that happened because we had to stay inside all day.

To keep warm we use llama fur. Since it doesn’t rain a lot we build irrigation systems to distribute water. We build terraces to farm on so we can farm on dry rocky hilly areas.

Unfortunately, I think that the Inca empire is soon to fall to the Spanish. I know this because they have powerful and strange weapons that make our weapons look powerless.

Some things I would have done differently are to manage my time more wisely. I would have done this by not working on things like bells and whistles instead of the content. I learned that the Incas were a very advanced civilization and learned many things about them. I am amazed that they were able to do such advanced stonework at that time. Something funny that happened when I was researching was that when I tried to find a picture of Incan clothing, I found a good one and then realized that they were wearing jeans! This made me wonder what would happen if the Incas, Aztecs and Mayans banded together to fight the Spanish.

Some things I didn’t like were that we had to get information about weather and climate for the report and also that it had to be in first-person. Some things I liked were that I learned some very interesting things about the Incas. I want to give myself an 100 but I need to be honest so I think I would give myself a
