Thesis: Trust is built slowly over time; it is the skeleton of friendship, providing a strong basis to handle conflict, even when two people are hardly similar enough to seem like they could be friends. _____George tells Slim the exact opposite of where he truly believes Lennie went. ____Pausing before answering, George needed time to “free his words”, which implies he was hesitating in order to decide whether to be truthful or deceitful. _____George lies to Slim, maintaining the bond of trust he built with Lennie. _____It was immoral to lie to Slim, but George was being true to his friendship with Lennie.
