MLK’S CHILDHOOD  Martin Luther King Jr. was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia on January 15,1929. During this time period racial segregation was a major issue. Both of Dr. King’s parents were reverends, which explains why he grew up to be a minister.

DR. KING AS A BOY Dr. King experienced some racial prejudice in his early life. Dr. King was raised in a family of well- off preachers so that says a lot About his passion to preach.

WHY WAS HE A GREAT LEADER?  Martin Luther King stood up for African American’s rights. He wanted equality for all races and he brought attention for people to notice the segregation that was going on during that period of time.

 According to “The Civil Rights Movement” by Peter B. Levy, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. had around two million followers. WHO WERE HIS FOLLOWERS? These followers were the African American striking workers who wanted rights and equality. Many today still follow him and believe in his dream.

WHY IS HE DIFFERENT?  Dr. King is different from other leaders because his acts and struggles were non- violent. He marked what he stood for and although he was persecuted, he always stood his ground. He fought for equal rights even if it meant risking his life to help others.

HOW LONG WAS HE A LEADER?  Dr. King was born on January 15, 1929 and was assassinated on April 4, he died as a leader. He died trying to solve racial segregation. Today although he is no longer alive he is still a leader because his dream has come true.

WHAT ARE SOME POSITIVE TRAITS THAT MADE HIM ATTRACTIVE TO OTHERS?  These are some elements from Martin Luther King: fire (warmth, inspiration, enthusiasm), earth (practicality, realism, material interests), air (social and intellectual qualities), and water (emotional needs and feelings).  They were his four basic energies that balanced every person.

WHAT ARE SOME NEGATIVE TRAITS OF MARTIN LUTHER KING?  Martin Luther King was very brave and that could have been bad but a lot of people looked up to him for that.  He also spoke his mind and that could be bad, because of the fact that others can take it the wrong way. His followers looked up to him.  He was also determined, which means that he was a little hard headed. People can get tired of that and attempt to kill him. His followers looked up to him.

 This is one of the pictures that was taken showing an attempted murder of Dr. King.
