Today’s Outcomes 3 Learn about your role as a parent in the planning of school goals and the budget Determine the role of the School Site Council and the composition of the School Site Council Identify the state and federal programs that are at your school and the types of things that those programs can fund to improve your child’s education

Empowering Parents: Why & How The Law requires parent involvement as a condition of receiving ESEA $ – Section 1118 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) How can parents become involved? – School Site Council (SSC) – English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) – School Advisory Committee on State Compensatory Education (SAC-SCE) – Other District and School Parent Advisories for Categorical Programs (DELAC, DAC, PIC)

The Law: Parental Involvement Categorical programs, activities and procedures shall be planned and implemented with meaningful consultation with parents of participating children.
