Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle was born on 22 May 1859 in Edinburgh, Scotland. The Doyles were a prosperous Irish-Catholic family. His parents married in 1855 Conan Doyle at the age of four

Arthur Conan Doyle married his second wife Jean in September 1907, a year after the death of his first wife, Louisa. She was 16 years his junior. The wedding was a magnificent affair, taking place at St Margaret’s church, Westminster

From 1876 to 1881 Arthur Conan Doyle studied medicine at Edinburgh University where he was, by his own admission, an average student.
