Energy Trust of Oregon Path to Net Zero

Energy Trust We serve residential, business, and industrial and agricultural customers. We also offer incentives for renewable power projects. Energy Trust

Path to Net Zero pilot Overview Launched May 2009 Provides enhanced incentives for owners who construct buildings with exceptional energy performance and strive for net- zero on-site energy use. Net Zero A net-zero building uses no more energy than it produces onsite within a given year. Pilot Energy Goals At least 60% energy savings beyond Oregon code At least 50% through energy efficiency alone

Pilot projects 12 projects enrolled or completed: 4 schools or college facilities 4 multi-unit residential buildings 2 office buildings 1 community center 1 retail space Case studies at energytrust.org

Support for pilot projects Charrette for Oregon Sustainability Center CFD Model for Chemeketa CC Health Sciences Building Encouraging collaboration Supporting innovative designs

Support for pilot projects ecoFlats, courtesy Siteworks Addressing cost barriers Enabling successful operations

Path to net zero: What’s next? AVAILABLE NOW Support for net zero and net zero ready: Early design (higher incentives) Energy modeling Additional energy-related design studies Energy-efficiency installations (double incentives for >30% better than code) Solar technologies Commissioning ENERGY STAR
