We have discussed partnership at length. My main message is THANKYOU, for protecting our mariners through political turmoil, Piracy and terrorism. We have discussed the need to build and maintain trust – before you need it. Talk to a fellow mariner !! ( It does take time across all ranks). NCAGS ( US, German, Holland)/UKMTO/MARLO…. Military/ Merchant Cooperation Its Classified!! A challenge going forward!

Merchant/Naval Partnership A partnership between Navies and Merchants should focus on the shared drivers of keeping commerce moving and ensuring the safety of all our mariners Operating Areas Industry Participation in exercises is low cost/High Impact. Both Parties get training opportunities that allows us to improve our SOP’s.

Merchant/Naval Partnership Operating Areas History demonstrates the value of naval forces and merchant vessels working closely together. Any crisis will be fast moving: -You will have what you have -Can’t make it up on the fly -Practice is important -Preset organizational structures are key Develop partnerships in advance of crisis: -Among Merchants -Between Merchants and military (directly) -Between industry and government crisis response groups. -Between industry and relevant NGOs.
