TEXT 1: Life in cities 150 years ago (From Can Do 2, unit 4) Read Vicky’s diary I slept badly. It was cold again. I got up early at 6 and had a wash in cold water. I had bread and water for breakfast. After breakfast I went to the market. I worked all morning. I had bread and soup for lunch in the market. I left work at 7 and went home. I bought some potatoes and cabbage. On the way home I saw my friend Dogder. I spoke to him for a while but he was very busy! I lit a fire and made dinner. We talked and sang some songs. I went to bed early and fell asleep. It was a good day.
TEXT 2: Life in cities now. A Friday in the life of a 12-year-old Dj (Spotlight 1, unit 2) A typical Friday? Luke Walker is twelve and he’s from Dublin in Ireland, but now he lives in Málaga. On Fridays, I get up at seven o’clock and I have breakfast. I go to school by bus. School finishes at three o’clock. I sometimes go to the beach after school. I go home at five o’clock and I do my homework. Then I listen to CDs. I listen to Eminem, 50 Cent and R Kelly. I like dance music, hip-hop is my favourite. After dinner I go to work. What’s my job? I’m a DJ in a big nightclub in Malaga. My dad is also a DJ. I finish work at twelve o’clock and I go to bed at half past twelve. That’s a typical Friday
