Dedicated to providing our members with the knowledge and resources necessary to provide optimal care to critically ill patients. ---publishing: a monthly newsletter scientific research journal clinical magazine for the practicing nurse quarterly series for advanced practice nurses Key initiatives : Certification, Healthy Work Environments, & Beacon Award. Chapters bring AACN's mission and vision to life within their communities SA Chapter AACN Organized in 1974 SA Chapter AACN supports the mission and vision of AACN by promoting excellence in critical care nursing and professional pride in nursing by: – Promoting quality educational offerings and Certification – Promoting communication, collaboration and professional practices among nurses and other healthcare professionals – Participating in the community Continued to hold regular educational meetings and a yearly CCRN/PCCN Review Courses, which prepare nurses for their national certification exams. Our organization has supported members by participating in issues which concern acute and critical care nurses and by providing them with current information and knowledge to assist them to provide their patients and families with the best care possible.

PRESIDENT’S THEME FOR 2014 President Vicki Good launched Step Forward as AACN’s theme for 2013–2014. “We lead when we step forward,” Good explains. “Stepping forward starts with just one step at a decisive moment. When we take that first step, we carry out our unique role advocating for patients and their families, so they can move from the darkness of a challenge to the light of a solution.” Integrity requires us to do the right thing, even when it’s unpopular and we’re not in the majority

WE ARE STEPPING FORWARD WITH OUR GOALS/OBJECTIVES FOR SA AACN will offer six (6) Educational Opportunities throughout FY 14 to meet the needs of the membership for nurses who are novice to expert. Improve the visibility and image of SA AACN chapter by having at least one (1) personal contact for each major hospital system in SA as well as engaging members into at least one activity of the chapter. Coordinate fundraisers to raise $ for NTI & Certification scholarships by March 2014 Provide Meaning Recognition through an organized merit system and celebrations of achievement Establish and initiate a Plan for Chapter Succession Establish a budget based on the goals for the fiscal year Increase the number of AACN Certified Chapter Members (CCRN, PCCN, CCNS, etc) by 10% in 12 months( CCRN Review Course October 2014
