John, more than a prophet Greater than John Coming of the Kingdom Not about our maturity or perfection

Depends on the Tender Mercy of God The Blood of Christ applied to us Put into GOD’s family by Jesus merit Baptized into Jesus

One who is least in the Kingdom is one to whom God has extended tender mercy to because of Jesus, no matter his/her level of maturity; if he has submitted to God’s righteousness, not trying to establish his own.

Breaking & Teaching Doing & Teaching Heaven itself OR Kingdom on earth? Context of Matthew 5:20

Pharisees were not righteous Not keeping the law They had not done or taught things of the Law Those adhering to the law would adhere to the things of the Kingdom

We are no longer under the Law of Moses Jesus fulfilled the Law and Prophets –John 19:28 last prophesy to be fulfilled –Luke 24:46 it was necessary for all Both require Obedience

Our adherence to the words of Jesus is the test of our greatness. It is a test of God’s for us, not a test our ours for others. God alone can measure our ‘Greatness’.

Dispute among the disciples For greatness –Desire for comparative things of men –Esteem, Pride, Envy, Jealousy Moved with Indignation –They wanted it too

Not a comparison to others It is a commitment to God’s will Does require our maturity Kingdom citizenship is flat

World had “Bosses” Church has “Servants”
