5 Ws as a Teaching Professional

THE WORLD IS A UNIVERSITY AND EVERYONE IS A TEACHER. MAKE SURE WHEN YOU WAKE UP IN THE MORNING YOU GO TO SCHOOL. -BISHOP T.D. JAKES RHODY RHODY RHODY!!!  Senior Undergraduate at the University of Rhode Island  Jumpstart Team Leader  Volunteer Fire Fighter  Major  Secondary Education and History.  From Monroe Connecticut

PHILOSOPHYSTRENGTHS & INTERESTS  Learning is a life long skill that never stops developing  That ah’ha moment when you know you have just learned something.  My past teachers have inspired me to get back into the classroom not only to teach history but to teach important life skills.  Personable  Creative  Enthusiastic  Appreciation of diverse learners  Making Connections

BEHAVIORIST -THE GOAL IS TO TAKE CONTROL OF THE CLASSROOM MANAGERIAL -MAINTAINING ORDER IN THE CLASSROOM  State expectations clearly and consistently.  Focus on positive expectations.  Practice "positive" behavior.  Establish clear and concise consequences to eliminate inappropriate behavior, and reinforce good behavior.  Monitor student work and provide necessary feedback to encourage students to keep learning.  Maximize time on task by engaging students in a variety of learning experiences. This will prevent inappropriate behavior before it occurs.  Implement a clear set of classroom rules and procedures that are consistent and appropriate to the situation.

 Positive Environment  Every student has the right to come to learn in a safe classroom environment. Be respectful and polite to all students to get respect and politeness back.  Responsibility  No body will do the work for you. It is up to you to be mindful of your own work.  Come to class prepared and ready to learn that means with any books, assignments and materials needed for class.  Accountability  Be aware of your actions and how they may impact other students.  Be prepared to accept the consequences of your actions.

 We will be polite, respectful and obey all school rules while in the classroom.  We will arrive to class on time, take a seat immediately upon entering the class.  We will do all the work assigned, give our 100% best effort at all times, and work from the beginning of the period right to the end of the period.  We will come to class with our assigned materials.  Listen to all directions and instructions given by the teacher and follow them to the best of our abilities.

My PBIS  Tier 1  80-90% of all students to ensure and promote universal positive academic and behavioral Instruction and prevent unwanted behavior in all students.  Reduce new cases of problem behavior.  Tier 2  5-10% of all students to provide immediate and specific secondary intervention for students who are at risk in the classroom.  Reduce current cases of problem behavior.  Tier 3  1-5% of all students that is intense and specific to the actions of that individual student.  Reduce complication and intensity of current problem behavior
