The First Thing Your relationships matter to God Mark 11:24-25 “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.” The way we treat one another matters to God. 1 Peter 3:7 “Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.”

The Second Thing Your motives matter to God James 4:3 When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures. The motives that you carry when you pray matter to God. Proverbs 16:2 “All a person’s ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the L ORD.” Hebrew - rûach = the life of.../ the spirit of... / the mind of... / the expression of... Relating to rational - i.e. why we do what we do... in anger / vanity / courage, etc

The Third Thing The way you live your life matters to God James 5:16b “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” Proverbs 15:29 “The L ORD is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.” It appears (from Scripture) that at some level, the way you live your life matters to God when you pray

The Fourth Thing Your faith matters to God when you pray James 1:6-7 “But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.” Matthew 9:29-30a Then He touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith let it be to you.” And their eyes were opened.” (NKJV) Your faith matters

The Fifth Thing God’s will matters when we pray 1 John 5:14-15 “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.” (NKJV) “name it and claim it” “blab it and grab it” “see it and be it” 2 Corinthians 12:9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. (NKJV) Luke 22:42 “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.” (NKJV)

Here’s where the rubber meets the road... John 9:31 “Now we know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, He hears him.” (NKJV) Your beliefs don’t make you a better person, your behaviour does If you want God to answer your prayers... what matters most? You must have an honest relationship with God through Jesus Christ
