Effective Study Strategies Spaced Review SQ3R

Spaced Review Before class (~30 minutes) prepare for lecture – scan terminology, subheadings to heading, charts/diagrams, develop ?’s After class (immediately) (~5 minutes) recap, mark imp. info., make notes on what you need to review. After class (that evening )(~1 hour) begin quizzing, integrate text w/ lecture, prep for next day’s class End of week (~2 hours) integrate info x lectures, quiz, focus on concepts still have ?’s on.

STRATEGIES FOR IMPROVING TEST PERFORMANCE Take efficient notes Review notes after each class Use SQ3R Get control of your time Begin studying after test Test yourself Practice good test taking strategies All of these strategies contribute to college success. While practicing one or two of the strategies will probably help improve your academic performance some, practicing all of these strategies from the first day of class will result in much better academic performance.
