Midnighters Blue Noon The Midnighters book, Blue Noon, was released in the year 2005 Published by: Scott Westerfeld

Main Event On Halloween there’s a rip in Midnight. There is a way to stop it but it comes with price. One of the main characters, Jessica, has to touch the lightning that is still frozen in the blue time and it will destroy all the darklings and slithers, expand midnight all over the world, and trap Jessica so she lives an hour in one day, during the blue time. Darklings

Main Characters Jessica Day Jessica is a very important character in the entire Midnighters series. She is called the Flambringer because she can bring things like fire and electronics into Midnight which are usually frozen during the blue time. She has long, wavyish red hair and seaweed green eyes. Jonathan Martinez Jonathan is called an Acrobat. During the blue time Jonathan’s gravity is reduced and his jump increases dramatically. When he makes physical contact in the blue time he is allowed to share his midnight gravity. He has black hair, dark brown eyes, and darkish skin. Rex Greene Rex is the only natural born Midnighter out of the group. He is called a Seer and he can read the lore. He has the need for glasses during the day but if there is an object that has been touched by a darkling or slither or if there’s another Midnighter he sees them with a strange focus. Rex’s best friend is the character Melissa. Melissa Melissa’s last name is not mentioned throughout the entire Midnighters series. She is called a Mindcaster because she can read people’s minds. A long time ago, when Melissa and Rex were kids and she didn’t know how to control her powers she accidently made Rex’s dad go insane so he couldn’t take care of himself or really do anything. Desdemona Desdemona is called Dess throughout the series. She is a Polymath so she is REALLY good at math and trigonometry so she can think of a lot of 13-letter words without a problem and as a result she is the group’s anti-darkling person. And Dess despises Melissa extremely and especially after Melissa forced Dess to touch her.

Setting Description Throughout the series the Midnighters are either in Bixby Oklahoma or Broken Arrow. Bixby is a medium sized town. Almost every house has a 13-pointed star on the door. There are many small features with 13 of something. For example, the actual words “Bixby Oklahoma” have 13 letters. Broken Arrow is right outside of Bixby and out of Midnight’s range (for a short period of time). Broken Arrow is dry and has few green plants other than cacti because it is in the desert. Snakes crawl all over Broken Arrow. In Broken Arrow there is a deep hole with a large rock at the bottom of it. There is a rumor about a circus tiger escaping and finding refuge in the hole and they say it has been there ever since then.

Favorite Personally, my favorite part is when Jessica touches the lightning. Because it is the saddest part and they give great description so it seems like you are right there watching it happen. They make it very emotional because Jessica has a sister, mom, and dad so they didn’t know what happened to her and they were all devastated when they found out she was gone.

My Rating I would give this book a 5 OUT OF 5 stars. Why? Because it has it all. Action, tragedy, monsters, fear, a little bit of violence and romance. It’ll make you cry, laugh, and want to know more. It is the perfect book and it isn’t to goopy.
