TSB and MRC jointly investing £180m over first 3 years to: Support healthcare R&D carried out in partnership between clinicians, academics and industry (SMEs) Drive translation of innovative ideas into marketable products and services  more rapidly and more effectively  ensuring maximum healthcare impact Deliver economic growth

Eligibility SME Businesses & Researchers NOT large business Individually Collaboratively Scope innovative ideas addressing a healthcare challenge Any sector, any discipline Potential for significant UK economic impact NOT marketing projects NOT blue sky research

Scheme includes 3 categories of grant for business-led applications: –Feasibility: up to 12mths; maximum grant £150k (75% eligible project costs ) –Early Stage and Late Stage: 1 to 3 yrs; maximum grant £2.4m (up to 60% eligible project costs) Grants are per partner, not per project Not every round includes all three categories: see –

Current Status (business-led projects): Rounds 1,2,3&4 combined: out of 563 proposals received (requesting £521m); 122 funded = £96.8m Round 5: 80 Early + Late stage proposals and 75 Feasibility proposals requesting over £100m total; 23 Feasibility projects funded = £3.2m. Assessment of Early and Late stage still in progress Round 6: 84 Early + Late stage applications received.

Digital Health in a Connected Hospital £6m Collaborative R&D comp This competition is focused on health informatics – specifically, using data to address healthcare needs within a hospital setting. Covering four areas: Accident and Emergency Planned Care Health Analysis Connected Care

Digital Health in a Connected Hospital £6m Collaborative R&D comp Expected size of Projects: £600k-£1m, months 2 Stage Competition with an Expression of Interest stage: Registration closes: 25 th June at Noon Expression of interest closes: 2 nd July at Noon

£2.75m: Technology-Inspired Innovation Collaborative Feasibility Studies Single-stage competition process Projects summary: –Projects must be collaborative –Must be led by a small or micro company –Partners can be industrial and/or academic Projects lasting 6-15 months Expected project sizes: £50-150k

SBRI: Rapid Testing for Drugs & Alcohol This competition seeks a step-change in their simultaneous detection in the human body through a non-intimate, rapid screening test. £325k from Home Office to prove concept of reliable and accurate tests, e.g. –optical measurement directly through the skin –skin-surface measurements –breath or saliva measurements –NOT immunoassays
