Why Does JSETS Exist? All 406 MHz emergency beacons must be registered DoD decided to maintain their own registration database Original concept included visibility into JSETS from the USMCC Capability was never developed DoD and NOAA are working together to resolve the issue

JSETS What It Includes? Beacons coded specially for a DOD program Off the shelf beacons used by the DOD

JSETS When To Use It Registration info on USMCC alert message says “See JSETS” (usually in Owner name) Alert message for an USA coded beacon that is not registered

JSETS/USMCC Limitations The USMCC has no visibility into JSETS (only accessible from “.mil” sites) JSETS contains a number of beacons that the USMCC is not aware of because they do not fall into “special programs” USMCC in no way guarantees the accuracy of information in the JSETS database
