Slide 5 Define “Social Media.” Wikipedia definition: “Social media” is a term used to describe the type of media that is based on conversation and interaction between people online. “Media” means digital words, sounds & pictures which are typically shared via the internet and the value can be cultural, societal or even financial. The YouTube channel supplements video on Rotary's website by providing Rotarians the means of embedding video onto their own sites. Rotarians, Rotaractors, and Interactors are encouraged to select from a growing collection of pieces from RVM: The Rotarian Video Magazine and from Humanity in Motion public service announcements.RVM: The Rotarian Video Magazine Humanity in Motion In addition, the YouTube channel allows you to be notified about new videos, and viewers can comment on the videos. Here are some discussion ideas: 1.Share the good things we do in Rotary with the rest of the non-Rotary world. 2.Promote our fund raising and community service projects to non-Rotarians. 3.Attract the media to pay attention, and hopefully report on, the good things we are doing. 4.Learn from other Rotarians worldwide in an open forum where we exchange ideas. 5.Make new member prospects aware of our work 6.Attract potential younger members who view social media as an integral part of their lives.
