Do Now: You will need to work with a smart phone! Use Google maps, or some other mapping software to solve this problem: Mrs. Correia is traveling from RHS to Ligonier, PA this Friday. Determine the average speed with which she will travel in: 1.miles per hour, 2.kilometers per hour; 3.& meters per second! Show ALL work, including DA!! (use loose leaf, notebook, etc.) HW: on p. 661, do #1-6

1.Convert your “hours + minutes” into minutes 2.5 hours & 2 mins = ( ) mins = 302 mins 3.Use DA to change your mins back to hours: 302 mins. 1 h = hours (Does this seem logical?) 1 60 mins 4.Now that you’ve got a compatible # of hours, determine miles per hour…. 280 mi = miles per hour h 5. Convert mph to km/h: mi km = km/h h 1 mi

5. Convert mph to km/h: = km/h Convert km/h into m/s km. h

Convert km/h into m/s km. 1 h. h 60 min

Convert km/h into m/s km. 1 h. 1 min. h 60 min 60 s

Convert km/h into m/s km. 1 h. 1 min m = h 60 min 60 s 1 km

Convert km/h into m/s km. 1 h. 1 min m = m h 60 min 60 s 1 km 3600 s

Convert km/h into m/s km. 1 h. 1 min m = m h 60 min 60 s 1 km 3600 s Simplify: =

Convert km/h into m/s km. 1 h. 1 min m = m h 60 min 60 s 1 km 3600 s Simplify: = m/s CHECK using the chart from last class – are all answers logical?

HW: on p. 661, do #1-6 Homework Example : Let’s say the question is, “On a nice, sunny day, what color is the sky?” ID# NAME DATE CLASS 1. The color of the sky on a sunny day is blue OR 1. What color is the sky? Blue NOT 1. Blue  how does this help you??? It doesn’t! **Give enough detail so that you are successful on an open notes quiz!**

Take a look at the math worksheet from yesterday (#1-6) and the HW from LAST 2 NIGHTS (#1-5 p. 25, #26-27p. 26). You have 10 minutes to work with peers/ teacher to ask any questions, make corrections, redo problems, etc. REMEMBER – the ANSWER means NOTHING if you do not know the THOUGHT PROCESS of GETTING to the answer!!

Closing MATERIALS MANAGERS: Return the METER STICKS to fume hood and LAB ASSIGNMENT CARDS paper clipped together to the fume hood Discussion (Project Director) Debrief What did you learn? Tips/ advice / comments/ concerns? Fist
