First People Native Americans settled in North Carolina Colony. They came to the North Carolina colony thousands of years ago. Some of them lived on the river near the Atlantic Ocean. Some of the Native Americans ate fish from the river that they lived close to.

Early Settlers The early settlers was John White in Settlers first settled along the coast. John White settled from the first colony, traveled back to Roanoke Island in In 1590 John White came back and everybody was gone. This was called The Lost Colony.

Life in the Colony The life in this colony was peacefully to people in the 1600’s.They grew a lot of crops.A daily lives of the people who lived in the North Carolina Colony was busy with chores all day. Some people built homes from nature and was held by clay. Others built log cabins.

Life in the Colony The fish was the most important food. The grew sweet potatoes, beans, corn, wheat, and pumpkins for their families. Corn grew the best in The North Carolina. Work and Trade Some colonies lived on large farms called plantations. Plantation owners grew cotton and Tobacco. They traded Tobacco to Virginia. They had to fight the Native Americans for more land for their tobacco. They used slaves to work in their fields.

Work and Trade Tobacco was a major crop in the North Carolina Colony. Farmers shipped tobacco to England through seaports to South Carolina. North Carolina owns harbors were too shallow for big ships. As they grew the colonists needed more land to grow Tobacco. They fought battles to push American Indians deeper into the forests.

Colonies Exports In the North Carolina Colony they had exports. The Agricultural, Industrial, and Natural Resources were all exports that was in the North Carolina Colony. The Agricultural Export included corn, tobacco, and wheat. In the Industrial Export included tar and turpentine. The last export is called the Natural Resource Export and included fish and seafood, fur, and lumber.

Community and Religion They were packed in like sardines because they didn’t have a lot of land to live on. It was a mess in North Carolina because they didn’t want to clean up for their self and had wood and logs every where.

Community and Religion Our North Carolina colony did not grow as fast as all of the other Colonies in the Americas. North Carolina had no more large seaports or centers to have their Trade Network.

Becoming a State North Carolina became the 12th state of America in the 1700’s. North Carolina was the very first colony out of the 12 colonies they are the ones that announced its support of independence. The Halifax Resolves directed North Carolinas representatives to vote for independence.

Statehood The State hood in the North Carolina colony was November 21, the north Colony became the 12 th state in the United states of America.

Important Facts An important fact in the North Carolina colony is that native Americans settled in North Carolina. Another fact is that it was found by the Lords Proprietors in 1663.It was the first colony to declare its support for independence.
