Presentation transcript:

Objectives Grade Level: 4 th grade Content Area: Social Studies Standard Course of Study Objective: 1.01 Locate, in absolute and relative terms, major landforms, bodies of water and natural resources in North Carolina.

Memory Learning Jigsaw: Groups of students will be assigned a different region of North Carolina (Mountains, Piedmont, Coastal Plains, and Outer banks) and will research it and will then be able to teach other classmates about their region. Students will focus on the geography of the regions.

Analytical/ Practical Learning In their different Jigsaw groups students will compare and contrast different North Carolina regions. Students will complete a webquest that will help them to understand the differences between the different areas, and will help them to understand why areas are better than others for specific activities. After completing the webquest students will create a travel brochure for North Carolina. They will include information about the best places for different activities such as rafting, fishing, hiking, sightseeing, etc.

Creative Learning Students will create a model of North Carolina that shows the topography of the state. Students will have access to a variety of different materials for their maps. They will have the opportunity to choose what materials they want to use and how they want to put it altogether to show the topography and different geographic features on their map.
