Wikispace Mini Lessons Editing/Adding to an existing page Uploading Images/File into wikipage Creating links to the web

Adding Text to An Existing Page When you open a new page – you will be told it doesn’t exist yet. Click the “Edit this Page” box next to the page name This will open a new editing box

Adding/TypingText You can begin typing by moving your cursor down to the page OR you can type your material into a Word document, cut and paste it onto the wikipage. Remember to periodically save your work

Enhancing Your Work Similar to Microsoft Word, the editor bar has a number of standard features you can use: Bolding, Italicizing, Underlining, Numbering, Bulleting, and adding a line to separate areas of text. First, highlight the text you want to change Then click the icon you want

Alignment, Size & Color Highlight the text you want to change Then click on the T with the paint palette To change the size, either press the – or + buttons (a sample will appear at the bottom) To change color, click on the black color box. This will open another window with numerous options. ** Once you have used a color, it will reappear the next time you open the box as a “Custom Color” at the top To change alignment, open the drop down menu to choose from the alternatives.

Adding Images or Files Press “edit this page” so the edit menu opens. Click the image icon which looks like a mountain in a box. Images & Files window will open **If you have existing files they will appear in opening box

If you have saved an image in your personal folder/computer - Click on “Upload Files” tab. Browse your computer, double click on image(s) you want to add, then press upload Now, click on “Insert File” tab and locate the image/file. When you find the file, double click on it and it will appear where you left your cursor on the page. Save the page before you go back to move/edit the image. Adding from the Web If you want to add an image directly from the web, click on “External Image” Copy and paste the web address for the image into the box Press load Then Double Click to upload it onto your page Remember to save before to tweak the image

Adding a link First, open the editing bar Click on linked chain icon The following page will appear

Creating a wiki link If you have already created page on the wikispace OR want to link to a page made by someone else in the class – Click on “wiki link” Then click on “page” and a drop down menu will appear with ALL the wikipages linked to this wikispace Click on the page you want to link to and it will appear in the window. Click on “add link” to save the link

Creating a link to the web First, copy the URL address of the link If you have located a web site you want to link to text in your wikispace first HIGHLIGHT the address of the website you want to link – copy the address Open the “external link” tab Paste in the url address of the website you want to link Click “add link” to save the link Click on “Save” on editor bar to save the page with the link
