Future Land Warfare The nature of warfare is enduring: it remains a fundamentally human activity. People are central to our capability. The character of warfare is dynamic and continually evolving. Diversity of actors, advances in technology and global trends drive constant change.

Future Environments AC-FLOC:AC-FLOC conceptual and philosophical framework to inform force modernisation and ensure Army remains postured to meet the demands of the future. FLW Report 2014:FLW Report 2014 describes five trends in the future operating environment and suggests their possible influence on the Army’s future land force. provides a sound basis for the Army’s contribution to the development of joint capability and to inter-agency cooperation. informs Army’s contributions to policy and strategy development within Australia’s national security planning architecture.

“Dynamic Complexity”

Key Judgements Warfare remains a human endeavour Ongoing population migration to urban areas, particularly in the littoral Technological advancements enable the rapid passage of information and mobilisation of groups along ethnic, tribal and religious lines. Increasingly diffused lethality – weapons of nation states now in the hands of loosely affiliated groups Growing imperative to draw on the strengths of synchronised joint, coalition and inter-agency resources and effects.
