Hewitt Anderson’s Great Big Life Week 18 Day 2

Read Aloud: Listening Comprehension Today I will read a passage from a short biography of Janet Evans, a great American swimmer and Olympic athlete. Remember that biography text: tells the story of a person’s life and accomplishments. is written by a person other than the subject. As I read “Janet Evans: Dangerous When Wet” listen to learn why Janet Evans is famous.

Discussion In what way is Hewitt’s daily life full of big adventures?

Focus Skill: Theme

If you had a bountiful amount of something, you would have a lot of it. What kinds of foods would you include in a bountiful meal?

Something that is vast is so wide it would be hard to get across it. What vast outdoor area have you visited?

A person’s stature is his or her height. Name someone whose stature impresses you.

Someone who is relentless in trying to do something keeps at it and refuses to give up. Name something you would search relentlessly for, if you lost it.

If you roused someone, you woke up or alerted that person. Why might someone rouse others in a home in the middle of the night?

A resourceful person is good at finding ways to solve problems. Describe a time when you were resourceful.

Intentions are ideas about what a person means to do. What are your intentions for the summer?

If you do something inadvertently, you do it without meaning to. What is something you did inadvertently?
