Delivering 21 st Century IT (NHS in England)

Procurement Strategy

Where are we now ? Infrastructure Single national re-procurement of NHS net National and directory – preferred supplier stage Supporting framework contracts for local IT needs e.g. LAN, PC’s supporting software – in place.

Where are we now ? eBooking Currently working with two shortlisted PSP’s Contract in place for booking systems supply Initially direct implementations by this/these PSP’s then potential for managed integration to StHA PSP

Where are we now ? Electronic Transfer of Prescriptions (ETP) No procurement currently 3 pilot services Either Vertical PSP (like eBookings) or Integrated to StHA PSP’s ?

Where are we now ? Integrated Care Record Services Draft Procurement Strategy Contract with 2-5 PSP’s to work at StHA level – –Integration and implementation partners –Each PSP will bring an aligned consortium of vendors –Each PSP will work (through SLA’s) with other elements of the programme

Role of the PSP

ICRS PSP’s PSP’s Construct a consortium of vendors and service providers Deliver ICRS requirements that comply with national standards Work to National SLA’s with other providers Work with the programme to identify innovations that can be applied nationally Work with the programme and StHA to expand or contract the scope of services

ICRS PSP’s Contract arrangement Service contracts based on PSP delivery responsibility within an StHA –Service payments based on delivery of agreed service –PSP responsible for all sub-contracts, taking all interface risks

ICRS PSP’s Implementation approach Phased delivery – StHA’s in waves Initial scope based on local priorities and national requirements e.g. eBooking and ETP

PAC’s ? Will form part of ICRS PSP consortium Current PAC’s contracts will form part of local legacy which StHA’s and PSP will agree upon Timescales for implementation are part of a planned rollout (being planned) which will not commence for at least a year The danger of planning blight is being addressed. In general procurements should continue

Supplier messages ? Continue current good work with DH (PASA/MDA) Continue/begin discussions with potential national ICRS PSP partners Maintain communication links with progress on national programme
